With ‘Visionaire Timbres’, Ensemble Lumaka recreates a concert from November 1926, played by the famous Dutch harpist Rosa Spier and her colleagues in the Recital Hall of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw with works by Smit, Debussy, Ravel en Goossens that were at that time new and innovative. The program is enriched with original texts and other repertoire from the period, and framed in a subtle staging / mise-en-scène. The result is a journey through time, a revisiting of 1926.
2017 was the 50th anniversary of Rosa Spier’s death (1891-1967). The concert honors the memory of this extraordinary musician, who has contributed much to Dutch music and to the emancipation of the harp as an independent classical instrument in it’s own right.
